[Untitled][edit]

The species list of theis article is out of order (per HBW) and is also woefully incomplete. Several genera and well over half the species are missing. I am creating a new list here which I will copy and paste over once I have finished. Sabine's Sunbird talk 01:00, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Split[edit]

I think it is time to split this article to Honeyeater and List of honeyeaters. Any objections? Sabine's Sunbird talk 21:46, 16 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No objections so I made the split. Sabine's Sunbird talk 22:35, 6 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I am rerating as C - needs discussion on intrafamilial classification, some evolution, and inline references. Casliber (talk · contribs) 20:48, 28 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Arguable mis-emphasis on diet?[edit]

This and all of the honeyeater species article that I have read so far give the overwhelming impression that they are primarily nectar-eating birds that occasionally take insects. Note that they don't explicitly say this, but the emphasis on the brush tongue and other details sure give that impression. Given the highly seasonal nature of many Australian nectar-producing plants, that is surely incorrect. Old_Wombat (talk) 09:30, 12 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Not the best image?[edit]

The Eastern Spinebill is hardly the most representative of honeyeaters. Can we have something else? The Red Wattlebird or White-Plumed Honeyeater are probably the most common and much more typical in appearance and behaviour. Old_Wombat (talk) 09:33, 12 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
