The women's 100-metre freestyle competition of the swimming events at the 1983 Pan American Games took place on 17 August.[1] The last Pan American Games champion was Cynthia Woodhead of the US.[2][3][4][5][6][7]

This race consisted of two lengths of the pool, both lengths being in freestyle.[8]
