Notes[edit]

Russian emperors should be included in the list, as they were accepted as kings of Poland by all the contemporary states of Europe. They were of German blood from the Holstein-Gottorp dynasty, so I don't see why August I and August II of the Saxon Wettins should be included in the list, and Alexander I and Nicholas I shouldn't. Nicholas I was crowned as king of Poland with the crown of the Piasts in Warsaw in 1829. Ghirlandajo 06:20, 12 Jan 2005 (UTC)

This template[edit]

Wouldn't it make more sense to use a succession table than this template, which is huge and awkward? john k 19:32, 16 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Polish Monarchs[edit]

I suggest we change the title of the template to "Polish Monarchs". The current title gives the impression that it is an enumeration of all of Poland's dukes, high dukes, and kings, which is obviously not the case.

OK, let's make that "Monarchs of Poland", since a member of a Polish royal family who ruled another state would also be a "Polish Monarch".
One second thought, there's already a category called "Polish Monarchs" and it seems unlikely that this title will create confusion, so that's what I'll change it to.
Eventually, the name of the template will need to be changed as well.
Well, it should be the list of all rulers of Poland from Dukes, through kings and princes to the partitions. However, indeed it should not include people who earned their ducal titles for service for other states and courts and never ruled Poland nor any of her dependencies. Polish Monarchs seems fine. Updates[edit]

I want to change the template so that the monarchs are divided into dynasties. This will make it a bit bigger, but there are plenty of big templates on WP (like Template:Region). I still need to add the image of the Eagle that's in the current template. Let me know what you think. Appleseed 16:06, 7 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Krak and Polpiel should be omitted, these are fairy tales. First on list as a legendary (or semi-legendary) monarch should be Siemowit Radomil talk 14:45, 11 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
