Citizenship[edit]

The article (which I have just edited) currently says that he "is a Northern Irish politician, and Irish citizen.[1]". His political career includes service in Derry City Council, the Northern Ireland Assembly and the House of Lords. He has never held any office in the Republic of Ireland. I suggest that describing him as "an Irish politician", as was done in the previous version, suggests that his political career has been in the Republic of Ireland. In other words 'Irish citizen' refers to his nationality (Republic of Ireland) and 'Northern Irish politician' refers to the jurisdition in which his political career has taken place. Thoughts? I think yes, works better as NI pol. Arguably the 'Irish citizen' clause in that opening sentence is slightly too terse, and a very short summary of the 'nationality' section should be factored out here. 109.255.211.6 (talk) 22:44, 23 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I rewrote it as He not a British citizen; he carries an Irish passport. Is that what you had in mind? --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 23:08, 23 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
On those lines. Actually I ec'd while sweating over some text on this. I've tried to give a sense of the later section without dumping every last detail into the opening section. 109.255.211.6 (talk) 23:24, 23 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
