"Orange Revolution" section also needs copyediting: it's beyond my English. Ukrained 19:35, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

He still controls Ukraine?[edit]

The lead says so, is this absolite info? If he still controls Ukraine he does it in a very smooth and non-visiable way since he doesn't seem connected with any sourche of real power. Any insights in this anyone? — Mariah-Yulia (talk) 12:45, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Where is the balance.??[edit]

THere is nothing about the dubious means this fellow used to appropriate the pubic assetx upon which his wealth is based. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.150.49.130 (talk) 19:10, 8 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There are references to articles about it. He is all over the international news due to his relationship with the Clintons, and today's news that he paid Donald Trump to give a speech several years ago. It is a mess. I will let someone else add details, as I have already spent enough time tonight reading about all of this. Even Jimmy Wales has a COI with him, see further down on this talk page.--FeralOink (talk) 09:41, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

BLP issue[edit]

"In 2004 Pinchuk and Rinat Akhmetov, two of Ukraine's richest oligarchs, created an uproar when using corrupt means they acquired the Kryvorizhstal steel factory for about $800 million which was a fraction of its real value in an illegal 2004 tender.[4] The illegal sale was allowed to go through since Pinchuk's father-in-law, Leonid Kuchma, was President of Ukraine at the time. The Kryvorizhstal sale was a perfect example of how, using illegal and corrupt means, Pinchuk was able to become one of the richest men in Ukraine and indeed, the world."

The only source given here for this is here, a source which does not use the word 'illegal' or 'corrupt'. Additionally, language saying the sale "was a perfect example" is complete synthesis not found in the source. I have no doubt that the sale, and reversal, was a big story and may well warrant the citation of criticism of it - but we can do a better job than this kind of editorializing.

Disclaimer: I won't make the edit myself due to what might be perceived as a conflict of interest, as I have met Victor Pinchuk a few times and been invited to speak at an upcoming event of his educational foundation in the Ukraine. No one has asked me about this, I am acting here in response to reading the article in preparation for this upcoming trip. (That is, I'm not acting as a paid advocate, nor am I a supporter or opponent of Victor Pinchuk in this or any other controversies, about which I am not knowledgeable enough to have a valid opinion.) I'm just being very careful to model best practices.--Jimbo Wales (talk) 09:15, 10 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The comment(s) below were originally left at Talk:Victor Pinchuk/Comments, and are posted here for posterity. Following several discussions in past years, these subpages are now deprecated. The comments may be irrelevant or outdated; if so, please feel free to remove this section.

This page is not absolutely objective; the news come from the personal page of Mr. Pinchuk - http://pinchukfund.org/en/about/biografy/ - and exalt a man who is a well known tycoon.

Proposed merge with Victor Pinchuk Foundation[edit]

Proposing merge of Victor Pinchuk Foundation into Victor Pinchuk. It's not clear that the foundation is independently notable: it's closely associated with one individual, the article has few sources, some of those sources focus more on Pinchuk himself, and it's been cleanup-tagged for more than 8 years with very little editing activity. Moreover, Victor Pinchuk already has a better-sourced Philanthropy section covering much of the same information. Layzner (Talk) 22:41, 2 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your suggestion, Layzner. The merger of the two articles was completed in 2018.--FeralOink (talk) 08:40, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Manafort[edit]

Pinchuk is mixed up in the Manafort business, being apparently the source of some payments to Skadden, Arps in re: giving Yanukovich a nicer profile in the US. Shouldn't that be in the article? Theonemacduff (talk) 19:18, 15 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Feel free to add WP:RS and NPOV content regarding activities that connect Manafort, Pinchuk, Skadden Arps, and Yanukovich. This sounds complicated, but as long as it isn't WP:SYTH or original research, go for it.--FeralOink (talk) 08:38, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
