The Mummy 4, Rise of the Aztec[edit]

Is there any proof that Mummy 4 will be titled this other than rumors posted on forum web sites? Also, I've heard other rumors that Brandon Fraiser only did Mummy 3 for the money and has no interest in doing another Mummy. Can anyone proove this as well? --Teresa44 (talk) 01:30, 28 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

at the end of Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (I believe it was an after credits scene [I saw the movie in theatres and stayed till the end just in case]) it was mentioned that they later discovered that Mummies were discovered in Peru (Aztec area) so while this isnt any solid evidence that the 4th would be called Rise of the Aztec (as it is no longer being made) it does hint and suggest that that it would be at least a potential title and a title that works.

The last question was about The Mummy 3. Gough reveals that filming will start at the end of July, first in Montreal, and then they are going to China. Don't know if this will help.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 21:16, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Early rumors and fan impact[edit]

The Chinese mummy storyline seems to be generally disliked by the fans (and critics, lately). I remember seeing a note on that on one of the other Mummy pages. Should it also be mentioned here? Meresankh 01:02, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Probably doesn't meet reliable source guidelines. Think of it this way -- would a couple of fans' disagreement with the possible storyline really be encyclopedic? —Erik (talkcontrib) - 02:10, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe not, but if it's a vast majority and sources like Empire, I would say it has an impact worth to be acknowledged by a word or two, at least at this time. Who knows what happens when the movie is in production.Meresankh 13:34, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Now there's a possibility that Jet Li is the head mummy? Don't know if somebody's just joking around so I'm not going to add it to the article yet. Here's the link[1]. --Nehrams2020 02:52, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move[edit]

The following discussion is an archived discussion of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the proposal was Should the article be moved to it's confirmed title now? I don't think it should stay at the working title anymore. --Nehrams2020 18:54, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What is the confirmed title? I checked for Curse of the Dragon, but there doesn't seem to be anything official except for Bloody Disgusting, which I hardly trust. —Erik (talkcontribreview) - 19:35, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I just realized that it has already been moved to the current title. I took this page off my watch list and when I typed in "The Mummy 3", it redirected to the current title without me realizing it. Never mind then, it looks like it has already been taken care of. Anyway, I did a name search of the title on Google and found multiple sites that are accepting the new title (although some aren't that credible or are blogs), but I did see some respectable ones in there. --Nehrams2020 19:42, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not quite convinced that this is the "official" title. The new casting call for this film doesn't even mention it, and all I can find are so-called reports that don't seem official. I guess I'll wait till a newspaper brings up the title to confirm it... —Erik (talkcontribreview) - 19:45, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Worse comes to worse, we can always remove it again, and I'll fix all of the redirects. --Nehrams2020 20:16, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The newest Variety citation makes no mention of this subtitle, and IMDb lists it only as "The Mummy 3". I've requested a move back to The Mummy 3, since the article already exists as a redirect. Until there is official proof, it seems most appropriate to keep it at the working title. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 05:06, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What about IGN? This citation mentions the new title. ColdFusion650 19:20, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, then I don't know if it should be The Mummy 3, Mummy: Curse of the Dragon (from IGN), or The Mummy 3: Curse of the Dragon (from Bloody Disgusting). The Mummy 3 is supposed to be a working title, but the actual format of the final title seems unclear right now. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 20:14, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It's very rare nowadays to have a film with a number and a subtitle, especially since the previous sequel had no number. I would say that The Mummy 3: Curse of the Dragon is not the official title. Therefore, the title of the article should be one of the other two. ColdFusion650 20:58, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I personally think that we should go with the working title of The Mummy 3 until national newspapers and magazines mention what the actual title is. At this moment, there seems to be very little reporting of Curse of the Dragon from any major outlets. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 21:02, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Do it to it. ColdFusion650 21:04, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That sounds fine, since there is not enough confirmed information about the title. I'm sure we're going to have to move it again at least one more time obviously, but hopefully not too many more times. I hope they make up their mind about the title already. --Nehrams2020 21:35, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The above discussion is preserved as an archive of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

This article has been renamed from The Mummy 3: Curse of the Dragon to The Mummy 3 as the result of a move request. --Stemonitis 15:04, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hate to bring this up again...[edit]

The full title The Mummy 3: Curse of the Dragon was used in Entertainment Weekly in the article "Deja View". You can see it online here. I don't think we have to move it yet, unless somebody wants to. Just wanted to point it out again. --Nehrams2020 00:21, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Several official sources have used some form of that title, but they can't settle on one. I've seen Mummy 3, Mummy: Curse of the Dragon, and Mummy 3: Curse of the Dragon. All of those have been used recently in official media. And since we can't settle on one, we decided to use the working title until something more firm comes up. ColdFusion650 01:38, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

New title[edit]

ComingSoon.net mentions that the title is The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. This seems to be fairly official, but I would like to suggest waiting for further confirmation. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 11:26, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. I guess this means that we were right to remove the other title, as it seems that it was wrong. ColdFusion650 12:13, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Brochure?[edit]

This whole thing reads like a Brochure, out of a bad, something terrible.

Marking for cleanup. I would do some myself, but I don't know anything about the movie.

Rachel Weisz[edit]

Is there some source available citing why Rachel Weisz isn't involved this time around? The Wiki article claims it's because of script problems, but the Variety article that's cited to back it up only makes references to her Oscar, her baby, and other projects she's involved in at the time (though it never clearly states if any of those are the reason she's out of this one as well). Nolefan32 (talk) 17:33, 4 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In the article, it says "In April, Fraser re-joined the cast for The Mummy 3,[15] though Weisz did not.[16]" If you follow the reference 16, you can see one source for her reasons not to join. Perhaps this deserves to be integrated into the article itself, as I feel that it's somewhat important since she's one of the original lead characters. 142.108.95.52 (talk) 20:29, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Removed trailer music remark[edit]

The music section said that the trailer music used was DNA Reaction, also used in the trailer for Harry potter and the... blah blah... Phoenix. I removed it beacuse it's just trivia, and not very useful. Still, the trailer also used music from Bram Stoker's Dracula by Wojciech Kilar and I think from the Rock (I'm not sure about the latter). Still, it doesn't really mean anything to the movie, so I took the liberty of erasing it. Fell free to add it back if you think it should be. --Surten (talk) 00:38, 26 June 2008 (UTC)Surten[reply]

I was wondering the same thing about Rachel Weisz. I really liked her in the first two Mummy movies. If you look at her filography however, she seems to be pretty busy in other films right now. That may have something to do with it. -Nicaboo 6/25/08 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.206.240.105 (talk) 03:06, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

External link removed[edit]

I removed the following external link (that happened to have formatting markup to make the font huge): *The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor It seemed to link to a site with a torrent or whatever, it didn't look incredibly relevant to the article (unless one wanted to watch it illegally or whatever, I dunno). londonsista | Prod 14:17, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Age of Characters[edit]

Alex should be 21 in the this film. In the mummy 2 Alex specifically says hes 8 years old. That film was set in 1933. The current film is set in 1946. Alex would now be 21. I'm aware that some involved with the film may have erroneously stated Alex is 18, but what is onscreen is usually canon.

Rick should now be early to mid 40's as well as Evie and Johnathan.(None of the of the films state their exact ages. So its fair to assume they were all in their early 20's during the first film set in 1925.)

I have reset Alex's age to 21 with a brief explanation in parenthesis. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dar70 (talkcontribs) 01:14, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WP:FILMS B class review[edit]

Per a request at WP:FILMS' assessment department, I have reviewed this article to determine if it meets the B-class criteria. Looking over the article, I have made various fixes, and have now assessed the article as B. The article still needs some more cleanup before advancing to GA, but it's pretty close to advancing to the next class. Good job on the article so far, and if you have any questions about the review or my edits, let me know on my talk page and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Happy editing! --Nehrams2020 (talk) 21:40, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The first Emperor of the Han?[edit]

When was this mentioned in the film? Also I read through the source for one of the references, yet there's not a single reference to him being of the Han dynasty in the film. Unfortunately the other one is in Japanese, so could someone please check the sources and if false please remove this 'fact'? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.151.146.229 (talk) 22:48, 18 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That makes no sense, he was Emperor of Qin, hence his name 'Qin Shihuang'. Liu Tao (talk) 03:23, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Communist General?[edit]

I doubt that General Yang (Anthony Wong Chau-Sang) is a Communist. Which communist would follow (or support) an Emperor, a monarch? --89.172.196.241 (talk) 13:32, 15 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mao, Stalin, Lenin, Ceauşescu,Kim Il-sung,Kim Jong-il,Castro,Ho Chi Minh, Ne Win, etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc. Come on now! And don't use a semantics argument that these dictators weren't "emperors/monarchs"!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.80.9.114 (talk) 02:48, 11 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No, I doubt he was communist. In the movie his army wore a crest with a dragon on it. I think they were just a fictional group of Qin loyalists with no ties to either the Communists or Nationalists. Liu Tao (talk) 03:22, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Similarities with Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb[edit]

Their are strong similarities between Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb and this movie. Several scenes or enemy characters in the game are depicted in the movie, including the first emperor of china. I just did beat the game. Kind of ironic.Majinsnake (talk) 09:01, 10 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No post credits scene[edit]

I removed the last line that said in a "postscript" scene, where Jon finds there are mummies in Peru after he decides to travel there to avoid them. There is no post-credits scene.TrevelyanL85A2 (talk) 22:46, 28 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@TrevelyanL85A2: while it is true that there isn't a post-credits scene for the movie, it is mentioned in on-screen text that mummies were discovered in Peru. Morriswa (Charlotte Allison) (talk) 00:10, 1 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Morriswa:, where is it mentioned about this? I didn't see anything?TrevelyanL85A2 (talk) 02:38, 1 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@TrevelyanL85A2: At the end of the very last scene, when Evelyn's brother (forgot name right now) was getting in a cab to go to the airport to leave China for Peru, on-screen text indicated that soon after, mummies were discovered in Peru. This is before the end credits start. Morriswa (Charlotte Allison) (talk) 14:43, 1 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
