Proposal to split article[edit]

Is this article about "TalkTalk Telecom Limited" or about the "TalkTalk Group", of which the former is a part of? Either way, on 29 March 2010 the TalkTalk Group will de-merge from the Carphone Warehouse. When this happens, I propose that this article is renamed to either "TalkTalk Telecom Limited" or to "TalkTalk Group". A second article should then be created. Demerger takes place on 29 March 2010 when the 2 companies become TalkTalk Group PLC and Carphone Warehouse PLC. TalkTalk group consists of TalkTalk residential, TalkTalk technology and Opal. Propose to update this article on 29th accordingly. Debz_82

TalkTalk Golden Shield Project[edit]

does anyone else think stalkstalk's planned anti-malware system is going to turn into one great big firewall as there going to be limiting what sites can and can not go to. probably see it tweaked in the future to block p2p sites linux, pornsites and anything else not approved my talktalk and the system is even provided by the chinese goverment Sparkler99 (talk) 22:15, 2 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Who owns Talk Talk?[edit]

This article says Talk Talk was "demerged" from Carphone Warehouse and is now a "standalone company". Is this a legal technicality, or is it a genuinely independent company? Could somebody clarify in simple English because I'm very interested in supporting a boycott of whatever company owns this Talk Talk entity, given it abysmal treatment of its 575 staff in Waterford, Ireland last week. 109.76.159.13 (talk) 16:06, 12 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Renaming article[edit]

I am renaming the article to TalkTalk Group in order to create a new article called TalkTalk this is order to add clarity to the articles as currently it is confusing as the article is talking about multiple companies, it also has raised confusion over the company ownership and structure. Mark999 (talk) 01:51, 26 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed article split[edit]

I am proposing to split some of this article into a new article called TalkTalk Residential, that would be the TalkTalk company that provides residential services, and contain information about what services they offer. This article would then be rewritten to provide information about the companies history as part of the Carphone Warehouse and about companies that have been taken over, as well as information about AOL UK, TalkTalk Business and TalkTalk Technology and other TalkTalk Group activities which are not related to their residential operations. This will provide added clarity about company ownership. Also I propose as part of this to redirect the page TalkTalk away from this article to Talk Talk (disambiguation), which would also be rewritten. Mark999 (talk) 22:39, 27 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

What about TalkTalk TV, which is a residential service? TalkTalk Residential is also so far as I am aware neither a division or customer-facing servic name, so if such an approach were followed the title should be TalkTalk (residential). I tend to think that articles should reflect a company's division/subsidiary structure when split off this way, or the name of products and services. Rangoon11 (talk) 01:01, 28 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It is described as this on here http://www.talktalktechnology.com/about-us/our-group "TalkTalk Residential, Which provides broadband and phone lines to residential customers under the TalkTalk, AOL Broadband and Tiscali brands Visit TalkTalk Residential website" This links to www.talktalk.co.uk this is the reasoning behind my proposal.Mark999 (talk) 17:10, 28 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That doesn't state that 'TalkTalk Residential' is either a division or a subsidiary of TalkTalk Group. And I repeat, what about TalkTalk TV, and also AOL UK and TalkTalk Mobile, since you are effectively proposing an article for all of TalkTalk Group's consumer services? Rangoon11 (talk) 17:21, 28 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Well as TalkTalk Technology and TalkTalk Business are subsidiaries of TalkTalk Group, TalkTalk residential is ALL consumer services like TalkTalk TV, Broadband, Telephone and Mobile which is currently made up on multiple different legal subsidiaries. Mark999 (talk) 17:51, 28 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Personally I think that separate articles for TalkTalk TV, TalkTalk Mobile and AOL UK makes sense. Merging these all together in a over arching 'TalkTalk (consumer services)' article seems to me likely to be unhelpful to readers and likely to just lead to a re-split in the near future.Rangoon11 (talk) 18:49, 28 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

POV disputed[edit]

I have just tagged this article for neutrality concerns. The article generally comes off very negatively towards TalkTalk. One possible way this could be resolved is by eliminating the Controversies section and instead expanding the History section into a cohesive, sub-sectioned historical account that covers all of the issues currently relegated to the Controversies section. -Oxguy3 tc 22:14, 26 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

done. I hope it reads more neutrally now. Dormskirk (talk) 21:23, 23 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
