This article needs to include "Hey Jude" by the Beatles. 7 minutes long, 2-3 minutes of verse until it goes into the anthemic refrain for the rest of the song. History: 1980s, 1990s, 2000s need restructuring, because the time periods are messed up![edit]

1980s is basically different from 1990s music, even though some 1990s artists already started in the second half of the 1980s. New country for instance is a typical 1990s music style. Some important examples of new country hits by songstresses, like Shania Twain, You're still the one, Faith Hill, This Kiss, and, LeAnn Rimes, How Do I Live, are all from 1998. 1990s music extended into 2000s music.Amand Keultjes (talk) 23:21, 31 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose. The concept of a ballad in music is much broader than what is described in this article. Apart from its medieval and traditional and near-literary meanings (which are all also performed as songs), it can refer to some specific genres: Ballad#Beyond Europe. There are also individual singer-songwriter regional genres which are also categorized as ballads. The sentimental ballad is a separate genre unrelated to any of those. It is mostly commercial genre of popular music. Power ballad or rock ballad is a specific 70s rock-related sub-style of sentimental ballad. I disagree that the redirect Ballad (music) was changed to Sentimental ballad in 2018. Some articles referring to this still refer to the broad meaning of ballad (for e.g. Jazz#Blues referring to traditional genre) and such links have not been corrected. Also, check the claims made in Talk:Ballad (music) years ago about such title. I think that "Ballad (music)" or "Ballad in music" should be at least a page of disambiguation in this situation, and better to detail the subject within music sphere.
