What should be added?[edit]

Confusing percentages[edit]

Parts of this article are confusing. 80% hermaphroditic and 5% monoecious? So what are the other 15% supposed to be or is it just assumed? Those also appear to be very imprecise figures.Johnhgagon (talk) 13:19, 21 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Should be split into Self-fertility and Self-pollination[edit]

I believe that this page should be split into 'Self-Fertility' and 'Self-pollination'. Self-fertility is used to describe when the pollen from the plant is able to be accepted by itself. This can mean that a vector, such as bees, is still required to transfer the pollen from the anther to the stigma. This is required when the anther is at a level which is too distant from the stigma to allow for the pollen to transfer at time of dehiscence. Self-pollination is then used to describe the ability of a flower to transfer the pollen from the anther to the stigma without requiring a vector, ie the pollen is close enough to make the 'leap' during dehiscence. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.245.175.223 (talk) 23:19, 7 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
