Resin casting (system)?[edit]

The lemma is "Resin casting", but the article only describes "resin casting system". Resin casting is often made by hand, by mixing resin and hardener manually and pouring it into a mold. 62.80.30.162 (talk) 10:29, 12 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I very much agree. This article is good, but the contents is too specific for the title. Even the bolded text in the lead says "Resin casting system". If there are no objections I plan to move this article to Resin casting system and create an article here that deals more with resin casting in general. There should be enough material in Garage kit and Designer toys to get something stubby started about the hand-casting process. Siawase (talk) 11:34, 5 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
By coincidence I just recently talked to specialists. I am the original author of the article and my native tongue is German. I had chosen "Resin casting as" lemma, but always felt a bit uneasy about the wording. I did not realise, that you started to discuss the name as I, guided by a private discussion, decided to better rename it to "resin dispensing". As you can see, I changed the wording consistently in the whole text. With my change your problems are gone as well, I presume.

After a quick googling it does seem like (apart from wikipedia) "resin dispensing"[1] is more commonly used for the type of automated system this article describes, while "resin casting"[2] is more commonly used for the soft mold hands-on method. Resin despensing system still seems like a better article name to me though, since that is what the article describes, not resin dispensing in a more general sense. Pressure casting[edit]

Yet another process, often used in hand poured castings, is placing the filled mold in a pressure tank which is pumped up with air to at least 60 PSI to eliminate air bubbles. Bizzybody (talk) 05:43, 14 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
