Suggestions for improvement[edit]

I would like to propose some improvements to this article...

  • First, I think the lead needs to be "dumbed down" for the average reader. It's too scientific.
  • Secondly, I wonder if it is necessary to add a section on diabetes and PKC. Seems there is plenty of research regarding PKC and hyperglycemia in mammals.
  • Thirdly, the recent disvoery by Iowa State researchers linking a PKC problem as the cause of Parkinson's disease should be added in an understandable way.

Ah not much talk here i see unfortunately, but if anyway does get around to making changes - i can only make apologise for not doing it myself - then could you please add a line in the table to "Protein Kinase C in the CNS". The acetylcholine M1 receptor is suggested to be involved in memory; i have no idea if it is or isnt so wouldnt alter it, but im currently learning neural basis of memory, and what certainly is involved is glutamate activation of AMPA, and then subsequently NMDA receptors, which induce Ca2+ activation of Protein Kinase C. What is mechanism of PKC inhibitors and how selective are they[edit]

What is mechanism of PKC inhibitors and how selective are they ? There is only a brief mention of PKC inhibitor drugs and no hint as to if they all affect all 15 isozymes equally or if/how any are selective. - Rod57 (talk) 10:41, 23 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Context tag for ATP[edit]

While I am not an expert (had 2 semester each bio & chem), know just the basics. For this article, section on "Structure", subsection "Catalytic", the Context notice comment is This first mention of ATP reads as if we'd been talking about it for a while. First, I've added Wikilinks to the article and for Structure, attempting to orient the reader. Second, for ATP I changed from plain "ATP" wikilink to "Adenosine triphosphate#Intracellular signaling" and the wikilink words from ATP to "ATP-binding protein" to clarify and give context.
