Elevation[edit]

I have revised the stated elevation of Mount Victoria, as recorded at The Teeth, to 1726 m; this value is noted in two publications and has been reconfirmed personally by myself twice in 2012 using two different models of GPS with 10 averaged meterings on both devices to within +/- 3 metres accuracy. The Russian data used by Ferranti is based on triangulation from the lowlands when the value of 1709 m was ascribed; seeing that the mountain had not been climbed prior to our 2007 ascent, the slightly higher value of 1726 m as recorded at the summit is likely to be the more accurate. It should be noted that Sagpaw, a peak of the Victoria Massif, actually appears to be higher, but thus far that prominence has not been investigated for its elevation due to lack of access.Attenboroughii (talk) 00:34, 6 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
