Towns not in Glasgow[edit]

Wouldn't this article be nicer if it simply included districts within Glasgow, and not random towns within a 20 mile radius of Glasgow's borders? Note the table on the page here for Halfway - a town which itself is probably not in Glasgow's borders any more for that matter. 13/08/2005

Actually I think you are confusing two places named Halfway, one is on Paisley Road West at Mosspark Boulevard, the other is out past Cambuslang. I created the original "Areas of Glasgow" list, but the fact that it now contains places as far away as Bristol means that it's just not worth the hassle any more.

OK I will have to have a wee look next time I'm at the cat and dog home. If people again start adding Airdrie, Cowdenbeath, Orkney etc. I suggest at the very least we start a separate section for these places (on the same page) instead of the asterisk thing which just looked horrible. 14/08/05

I decided to change it to how it should be, and how it originally was. This has been annoying me for a while, as it is very inaccurate. I hope this is not construed as vandalism, even if it is deleted, because it is not intended to be. The towns links to Glasgow were becoming increasingly obscure - eventually we would be adding Kilmarnock and Stirling. 13/08/05

Egypt is a lesser known area of Glasgow, it is in the east end of the city along London Road. Fraslet 16:04, 14 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Difference between area lists in this article and Areas of Glasgow template[edit]

North of the River Clyde

Only this article has

Barrachnie, Blochairn, Braidfauld, Camlachie, Drumry, Linthouse, Outer Kelvinside, Provanhall, Scotstounhill, Springhill, Yoker, Yorkhill

Only Areas of Glasgow template has

Auchinloch | Blythswood Hill | Finnieston | High Ruchill | Kelvinbridge | Merchant City | Woodside, Glasgow|Woodside | Wyndford |

South of the River Clyde

Only this article has

Auldhouse, Cessnock

Only Areas of Glasgow template has

Corkerhill | Eastfield, Glasgow|Eastfield | Eastwood, East Renfrewshire | Fernhill | Linthouse | Penilee |

Not sure that Eastwood should be there as it is in East Renfrewshire.

I argue that the lists in this article should be removed and replaced with the Areas of Glasgow template to save having to update two lots.

Thanks. Samantha of Cardyke 15:12, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Auchinloch shouldn't be there either. Fraslet 17:13, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks - have removed Auchinloch and Eastwood from the template. Samantha of Cardyke 08:13, 27 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Provanhall[edit]

Provanhall is an neighbourhood within Easterhouse, so it is strange to include it as a place within Glasgow and have Easterhouse listed. It is not known outside the immediate area and the litmus test - try buying a house there in say GSPC.co.uk. It is not an area of Glasgow like HAghill or Kelvinside is and should be removed.

Would a map aid clarity?[edit]

Would a map with the areas on it be in any way worthwhile?

Does anyone even have semi-defined boundaries for these areas?

For example just off Finnieston Street the area is variously referred to as Finnieston, Cranston Hill, Anderston and the local big-brand supermarket labels itself Yorkhill branch...Of those Anderston seems strongest as a "real place" but it doesn't seem to stretch as far west as the Police Station on Argyle Street (Cranston Hill).

Too Long; Didn't Read: Before I'd feel comfortable editing things to do with Finnieston as I see it I'd need some sort of guidance as to what forms its boundaries.
