SSSI lists and supporting site articles[edit]

Thank you to all the lead and supporting editors who have constructed this impressive set of wiki pages for the SSSIs of Britain. I was 'inspired' to contribute to one of the counties of which I have knowledge. This is obviously the overall summary page and until all the separate 'Areas of search' pages are complete data cannot be reliably entered. There is a tag at the top of this page (dated 2007) about citations. It would seem to me this is no longer an appropriate tag as I can see effort has been made to respond. I could not find a suitable tag to put as it would seem more productive and more encouraging to new people if the tag invited the filling in of the missing entries and thus checking and contribution to the individual county records. I found tags related to expansion of lists, but the need would seem to be filling in a framework more than an expansion as such, though new SSSIs will be created and some sites may lose their status. I wonder if lead editors for this project might consider revising this tag? Also perhaps more narrative to introduce the list? Sjeans (talk) 09:03, 8 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Some templates that might be useful for SSSI lists:

{{incomplete list}} to show:

{{complete|2012}} to show:

{{Dynamic list}} for:

The last one may be the most applicable, as you say, new sites are notified, declassified, expanded or reduced, reevaluated, etc.. so no table can ever be considered 100% accurate day-by-day, without verifying the entire set of AOS citations for updates. It seems changes are rare and quite slow to take place, so there shouldn't be need for worry from the average reader. Ma®©usBritish{chat} 10:49, 16 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Summary of progress[edit]

Marcus is not longer on Wikiedia and the page has been deleted. Dudley Miles (talk) 15:42, 21 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
User:MarcusBritish/SSSIs is now back live. MarcusBritish Northants and Suffolk are now also FLs. Dudley Miles (talk) 10:08, 22 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not working on SSSI articles nor actively monitoring the checklist pages I setup years ago, at present, but do feel free to continue to use them if it helps you to keep track of what still needs doing. Good to see that so many (18) of these lists have progressed to FL standard. Only 4 of the 46 English SSSI Areas of Search articles have yet to be put into any form of tabular format and remain bare lists. Cheers! — Marcus(talk) 11:51, 22 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
