Prince Jules de Polignac[edit]

Prince Jules de Polignac's correct birth/death information is the following:

Born: Paris (not Versailles), 14 May 1780. Died: Saint-Germain-en-Laye, 30 March 1847.

My source is a published family genealogy/history:

Duc Jean-Héracle de Polignac, _La Maison de Polignac: Etude d'une évolution sociale de la noblesse_, Le Puy: Editiions Jeanne d'Arc, 1975, p. 129

These dates and places are also supported by European genealogical sources: Genealogics cites:
  • Genealogisches Handbuch des Adels, Fürstliche Häuser, p. 1956.
  • Europäische Stammtafeln, J.A. Stargardt Verlag, Marburg, Schwennicke, Detlev (Ed.), vol. IX, p. 92.

I've reverted to 2 March 1847 based on strength in numbers and added a ref link to a new notes section. —Moondyne 17:52, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
This is his elder brother, Armand Jules Marie Heraclius duc de Polignac, who died on 30 March 1847 in Saint-Germain-en-Laye. See the sources given in references, as well as the Nouvelle biographie générale depuis les temps les plus reculés jusqu'à nos jours (1862). I edited the note accordingly. — Xavier, 01:42, 21 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Title[edit]

This title is terrible. No one ever calls him the "Duke of Polignac." He's called the "prince de Polignac," typically, or just "Jules de Polignac." The current title is awful, and the justification for the move "standardization" is just as bad. john k (talk) 15:31, 23 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Suggest the addition of a note of his role as an (absentee) planter and slaveowner on St Vincent who drew compensation for his freed slaves from HMG86.131.144.239 (talk) 23:17, 8 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
