Transpcript of his testimony[edit]

In digging about through interest i found an interesting transpcript of his testimony before the senate sub committee on OC, which I used to exapn the article a bit. Will put more in if no one reasonably objects —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ir5ac (talkcontribs) 13:12, August 29, 2007 (UTC)

Early Life Section[edit]

Something is wrong in the 'Early Life' section. It appears to be a copy/paste error or something. It makes no sense. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.43.205.82 (talk) 19:37, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pistone to become a made guy[edit]

I deleted the following section: "Pistone claimed that he was put up for mob membership, a claim thought to be highly unlikely by most experts."... Who are these experts, where this claim has been made (citation) and who had more intimate knowledge about mafia codes in general and about Pistone's mission than himself?! 81.96.125.240 22:49, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In the movie, they sensed there was a Rat. Pistone never really killed a guy, so what exactly did Pistone do, that would make him a candidate to get made (made means initiated into membership, in mob lingo.) In the movie, Pistone did not win over the confidence of the whole crew. Pauly was a moody a-h who put a gun to Pistone's head in car, before telling Pistone to go into the house, where they ambushed Sonny Red. In the movie, Pistone was always slightly edgy and nervous about his day to day survival. 206.192.35.125 (talk) 20:43, 9 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Dominick Trinchera[edit]

The Movie "Donnie Brasco" came out in 1997. Correct me if Im wrong, but various mobsters testified against Bonanno Boss Joseph Massino not until close to five years after "Donnie Brasco" came out. So who was the insider who shared with the "Donnie Braco" production crew one factual detail from the Alphonse "Sonny Red" Indelicato/Dominick Trinchera murder: The fact that when Indelicato and Trinchera were whacked, Trinchera remained standing and charged towards the shooters. This was portrayed in the movie. And allegedly this was part of the testimony, when Massino was fingered in court as arranging for the hit against Indelicato and Trinchera, as well as the third guy who was whacked with them. Although the movie omits the fact that the shooters were a crew that was brought in from Montreal. And the movie shows the shooting taking place in the basement of one of the guy's homes, however the actual shooting was in the basement of a mob social club. The movie twists the truth, and falsely leads you to believe that the hit was entirely the work of Sonny Black. 206.192.35.125 (talk) 14:39, 15 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Let me add a response to my own comment. Its possible a lot of details of the Trinchera/Indelicato hit were communicated to Agent Pistone during his days undercover. But lets emphasize that Agent Pistone states in various taped interviews that Sonny Black allegedly didnt want Donnie Brasco at the hit; So it was second-hand knowledge. But this fact of Trinchera charging at the shooters is in my mind, a huge fact. All those years, who had loose lips on the street? I admit I still have not read Pistone's book. I should go buy the book. But then again, what did he leave out of the book? How much knowledge, both firsthand and secondhand, did Pistone acquire, that perhaps is knowledge that will not ever be divulged. And here's a speculation: lots of facts might not ever be divlged for the simple and obvious reason, that they were not solid enough evidence to enter into court and help make a case. And so there might be an FBI damage-control policy to not publicly release information that you can't enter into court proceedings. 206.192.35.125 (talk) 19:18, 15 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

But there might be another possibility to speculate. I pose the question if maybe Pistone actually really was at the Indelicato/Trinchera hit. All these years that have gone by, since the incident, maybe Pistone simply denied that he was there. Maybe its bad publicity for an FBI agent to have been witness to an execution, even if the agent was deep undercover. 206.192.35.125 (talk) 15:52, 21 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Song composition[edit]

J Edgar Hoover line[edit]

"Pistone was a pioneer for deep long-term undercover work. J. Edgar Hoover originally did not want FBI agents to work undercover because it could be a dirty job and might end up tainting the agents, but Pistone's work helped convince the FBI that using undercover agents instead of just using informants was a crucial tool in law enforcement.[4]"

Makes no sense as his death predates the Donnie Brasco case — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.144.148.225 (talk) 23:50, 5 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

27-year career?[edit]

Joseph D. Pistone claims to have worked as an FBI agent for 27 years. This claim is frequently repeated by online sources as well. Also often-repeated are the claims that he joined the FBI in 1969 and retired in 1986. If you Google "Joseph Pistone retired", "Joseph Pistone joined (FBI)", and "Joseph Pistone 27 years", you'll quickly find articles regurgitating the same.

The problem is that these numbers add up to 17 years, as opposed to 27. I did a search on "Joseph Pistone joined 1959" (also 1958 and 1960), but couldn't find anything. So what's the story here? Jay D'Easy (talk) 20:36, 15 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
