To whichever expert it may concern: Please consider using a photograph of (an) actual Itelmen/s. As on some Wikipedia pages about specific indigenous peoples of the United States, where I live, I see here the tendency when discussing natives of Siberia etc. to allow, or even put forth, the "vanished noble" motif. This is usually unintentionally, but still genuinely, dehumanizing to living cultures. I totally agree, and I was about to say that the article should be restructured so as to clearly distinguish between what was true of Itelmen people before the Cossacks arrived, what was true after, how they were affected by 19th-century developments and by the Soviet period, etc. Q·L·1968 15:57, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
