Merger proposal[edit]

I would suggest that the current Church Hymnary article be merged into this one, as it essentially duplicates a subset of the content. That article could then simply be redirected here. Seajay (talk) 10:05, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Church Hymnary seems to consist mostly of paragraphs taken from here anyway, with one short and not very objective paragraph added about what evangelical churches think of it - what other denominations think is really not relevant. (Or do we want a Catholic comment, and perhaps a Muslim one?). So yes, merge. --Doric Loon (talk) 13:04, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Further History[edit]

Looking at this site http://www.cgmusic.com/workshop/scot1635_frame.htm it appears that there are further historical versions dating back before 1650. The one on the page linked is the 1635 Scottish Psalter, the description of which refers to, what may be the first version of 1564. It also gives quotes from the general assembly denoting the use of the 1564 publication. We should probably add something to do with these versions into this page. Yes, please do. But nothing pre-Reformation. That would belong elsewhere. --Doric Loon (talk) 13:05, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

“Church Hymnary, fourth edition (2005)” seems to have been copied from a book seller, reading like a review, not a objective description. Various examples of bias present as well, and no references.

Could someone with more experience than me give some advice? Worcester1264 (talk) 02:42, 5 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
