Merger proposal[edit]

I've suggested merging Relativistic nuclear collisions in to the High energy nuclear physics article. Presently both articles are short and cover much the same material. Djr32 (talk) 21:10, 4 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

That's fine, but I am less taken with treating all heavy-ion collisions under this heading. Heavy-ion reactions just above the Coulomb barrier, at energies far below those where the effects described in this article come into play, are also significant research topics (for instance, as ways to make superheavy elements), and should be treated in an article of their own. At the moment, "heavy-ion collisions" is simply a redirect to here. The topic deserves better, and needs to get written up in a way that doesn't collide with this article, in a manner of speaking. -- Bill-on-the-Hill (talk) 22:58, 28 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
