Magaki elder stock[edit]

As of this writing, Hakuhō has not acquired the elder stock. The article linked has been machine translated and a proper fluent reader translation shows that it says he "hopes" to acquire the stock and that "moves are afoot". Refer to the end of this video where the reporter shows how the incorrect translation has been used https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CU-UHz8IzwQ TheNeutroniumAlchemist (talk) 00:21, 19 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the correction. Pawnkingthree (talk) 01:40, 19 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Retirement basho[edit]

Perhaps a minor point, but although Hakuho let it be known on 27 September that he is retiring, if it is not confirmed until 30 September, that's after the banzuke committee meet today to draw up the rankings for November. It's therefore possible that either Hakuho will still be on the November banzuke, or makuuchi will only have 41 wrestlers in November, with Hakuho's West Yokozuna slot effectively left blank. Either way, I think we should put the "Retired" box in the tourney table in the November 2021 space, which will allow us to keep the "Sat out due to COVID rules" information for September.-- Pawnkingthree (talk) 15:04, 29 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Now confirmed that he will be listed in November [1].-- Pawnkingthree (talk) 12:38, 30 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Incorrect. He's blanked. I still don't know how to handle this. How can we show that he sat out September for COVID, but also retired after it? Pawnkingthree (talk) 21:36, 31 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hokuseihō violence scandal[edit]

I saw that my previous edit about adding a sub-category on Hokuseihō had been removed. I've re-added it in view of the size of the paragraph on the affair that resulted from his removal from the JSA but also because the further we go the more comments there are from officials on the fact that this affair marks a moment when Hakuho is in the sights of the association and risks losing his stable or even being excluded from it. For me, this case deserves its sub-category - OtharLuin (talk) 09:45, 24 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

That's ok I guess, at the time I removed it Hakuhō was said to be only demoted two rungs in the hierarchy, which didn't seem significant enough for a subheading. This is an article about Hakuho, not Hokuseiho after all. It does seem more notable now that's he effectively been removed as stablemaster (although I still worry that there is a bit too much detail). Pawnkingthree (talk) 19:39, 24 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
