Victory ode?[edit]

There was a duplicate article about Zarlino at Gioseffe Zarlino (now a redirect). Evidently the content was from the Catholic Encyclopedia (1908).

It included this part:

One of his earliest compositions was an Ode for the victory of Lepanto, 7 October 1571. Between the years 1566 and 1578 he composed seven masses and madrigals. In 1582 he was made a canon of Chioggia, and in the following year was elected bishop of that see, but declined the honour.

All of Zarlino's works were published before 1571; even if such a work exists as that 'victory ode', it would have to have been one of his last works. I can find no trace of anything like it in his works list. His publication dates for music were 1549, 1563, 1566, and 1567. One must be cautious about using the Catholic Encyclopedia for information on Renaissance musicians; musicological research is a lot better now than it was then. If there really was a victory ode and someone knows about it, do you have its Latin name? Also, I cannot find any masses on his works list; as far as I can tell he didn't write any. There is a prominent box referring to a minor article in wikisource: it contributes little to the subject beyond what is already on this page, has no references to support its assertions: why not delete the reference, or make it less prominent? As a new editor I'm reluctant to do it myself, but maybe others are braver.
