History contradiction[edit]

I found this source, which has a contradictory history regarding the rebuilding of the French fort. I'm tempted to believe this version, because it specifically covers Fort Wayne history. However, if the information in the article is incorrect, I wonder if it refers to one of the other Fort Miami? I could use your opinions on this.

Early in the year 1750, Captain Charles DeRaymond completed the new fort on the left bank of the St. Joseph. It stood on rather high ground (at the present St. Joe Boulevard and Delaware Avenue), less than a mile from the junction of the St. Joseph and St. Mary's. Chief Cold Foot, a staunch friend of the French, occupied the discarded buildings of the old fort, which became the center of an Indian settlement known as Cold Foot Village. Half a mile to the south of the new fort, where the maumee turns in its course toward the east, lay the village of Kiskakon. Most of its inhabitants had joined the English at Pickawillany.

For what it's worth, the article "Kekionga" says the fort was rebuilt in 1752 by Lieutenant Louis Coulon de Villiers, and it has a cited source. So we now have three sources that seem to agree that the fort was rebuilt around 1750, but who did it? Was it Captain Pierre Blainville, Captain Charles DeRaymond, or Lieutenant Louis Coulon de Villiers? I'd lay money that at least one of these guys was working on the fort in modern-day Ohio, but I don't have enough information to determine which is which.Mingusboodle (talk) 04:02, 2 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
