national election systems table - please help[edit]

I am currently working on the national election systems for the EU parliament election, in form of a table. Your help is welcome, especially if you speak other languages from EU member states (I use the laws in foreign languages as references) C-Kobold (talk) 14:40, 7 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Do not use primary sources as your references, C-Kobold. Instead find sources that report and/or summarize those sources, and use these instead (secondary sources). Otherwise you could be accused of doing original work. The compiling and synthesizing of raw data should never be done by a Wikipedia editor; always by the sources we then use to write our articles. For instance, a newspaper summarizing the election system used in Slovenia or Sweden is a useful source (assuming that newspaper is otherwise reputable etc), even if in Slovenian or Swedish. You summarizing the election system of Slovenia or Sweden, however, is not the job of Wikipedia editors and will likely be removed. Also, Wikipedia is not an instruction manual. Every detail you add needs to be notable. Wikipedia is not the right place for the full unabridged details of every individual country's specific voting laws. Sorry, but unless you can find a good source for a particular tidbit, it does not belong on Wikipedia. I highly suggest you take your concern to the Teahouse or questions desk - there you will find friendly people that can explain how Wikipedia works far better than you will get from this specific talk page. I can only hope you now understand how Wikipedia works, and more importantly, why it works as it does, and exactly why your article idea could never work here. In addition, I wish you were brought to this conclusion before you spent too much time and effort on a doomed draft, and that you have not soured on Wikipedia as a whole. Well, you were not helpful, because you only told me what I should NOT do. You could have helped me to find another platform for my work, you could have done some research for newspapers that you mentioned or you could have contributed to the table; but you didn't. Eligibility of non-residents[edit]

Under eligibility, it says that residents of each country can vote. But the EU website says that "If you live outside the EU, you can usually vote in the EU elections in your home country's embassy or consulate." European Parliament election[edit]

Suggest changing title to "European Parliament election" since "Elections to the European Parliament" is too wordy. Additionally for consistency with 2019 European Parliament election. HudecEmil (talk) 20:51, 16 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
