ekallu[edit]

The derivation of Akkadian ekallu from Proto-Semitic *haykal in the article is dubious - ekallu is standardly taken to be a loan from Sumerian egal, which is analyzable in Sumerian as "great house".Bill (talk) 07:12, 21 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Update tag[edit]

Anonymous user 72.183.52.92 added this tag {{update|most recent research suggests Cuneiform=a Semitic language|date=June 2015}}, but without any kind of reference it’s totally useless so I’ve removed it. If anyone has concrete information to add about research into Sumerian (presumably what is referred to here) it should be added to that article first, but only here if there is a clear academic consensus (which I doubt there is). The anonymous nature suggests this is just another crackpot theory about Sumerian to add to the list. --☸ Moilleadóir ☎ 05:49, 6 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
