Message to GA reviewer[edit]

Just a note to say that although this article is not very long it should hopefully be GA standard. The material in the article is all that I could find with the resources available (including archived news paper articles) but should still cover every notable aspect of the man's life. Thanks. - Shudde talk 01:39, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I know it's rotten sometimes but is that all. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 02:50, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GA comments[edit]

Personally, I seriously think this article needs to be expanded. Only 4.8k mainspace

  • Do you have government state/county library which would tend to have in depth books about historical stuff? I would like to think that there was a book about the yesteryear of English rugby and I would expect that it would cover notable managers and such.
  • Actually I checked the links and there is a lot more info there that you have not used. Please do so.
  • The most important thing is the coaching section at the moment. Do we know why he resigned? What kind of style did England play during this time? How did he change the playing style? What were his tactical traits?
  • White as a player - what were his strenghts and weaknesses in his playing style. This needs to be discussed.
  • Also needs a bit of junior sport if this is at all possible

Prose

  • Please use caps for the name of his school. I have changed this in the last para. Please do so for the rest of the article
  • There are a few sentences where it repeatedly says "he also" "he also" - This is redundant, since every statement adds to what has been previously said. Also in the lead, there are a few times where it keeps on saying "In YEAR" - please try to put some more variety into the start of the sentences.
  • Prose in general could be constructed better.

Moer coming. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 02:50, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have done a search on google, google books, and also several library catalogs and havn't been able to find anything new. There are books around about England rugby but not much is mentioned on Don White. It's probably because the coach was not as influential as they are now, and also because his record was not particularly good. As a coach I suppose the main reason he is notable is because he was the first England coach, rather then because he was an England coach. I'm going to keep searching for more information and will keep you posted. - Shudde talk 04:02, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If we cannot get stuff on him specifically I think it would be nice to at least discuss the results of the 14 matches in which he was in charge in more detail, as a team aspect even if it isn't possible to find anything about him as the coach specifically, eg Kapil_Dev_as_Indian_National_Cricket_Coach - even if you can't find specifics about what he did it is good to at least discuss the team results like in the Kapil Dev article. I was thinking the same thing just before! I'm going to do that, but I'll need to be careful not to go into WP:OR. Should be right though. - Shudde talk 05:34, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have failed this article because it appears that the required work can't be done in teh imminent future. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 08:46, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
