2011 Report into Defence Procurement[edit]

I added a note on the publication of one of Carrie's reports, on a set of proposals for reform of certain aspects of defence procurement. The note was removed on the basis that since he has written many such reports there was no need to single out one. I didn;t know that, but I'm not convinced about this argument. Firstlt, the report is, in itself, notable, since it later became the basis of a piece of legislation, which will affect government spending of about £4Bn a year. Secondly, would it not be better, rather than not mentioning any of his reports that have been commissioned by government, to try and list all of them? I'm happy to do such a list. Thoughts? I have read the Defence Reform Act 2014 and the relevant Hansard speeches and now agree with you that Currie's Review of Single Source Pricing Regulations is significant and deserves mention in the article. Congratulations for standing your ground, and apologies. I have restored the information in the article.

For me, difficult, as he has been so prolific and I’m not an economist and have no access to professional lists. However, a rapid trawl through the internet indicates that, in his various capacities mentioned in the article, Currie has published many reports to the UK Government, including inter alia to Treasury ministers Norman Lamont, Kenneth Clarke and Gordon Brown, and to Defence minister Philip Hammond and to the Bank of England. Also reports on a number of economics topics, including: European Monetary Union; the International Monetary Fund; the European University and the European Commission. The books listed in the article’s ‘’Publication’’ section are also likely to contain lists of his other reports. Apuldram (talk) 12:19, 30 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
