Factual Clarification[edit]

The Columbus MSA is the second largest (not third largest) in Ohio. The Cincinnati MSA includes counties in Kentucky and Indiana. Take those counties out of the Cincinnati MSA (since they are not in Ohio) and Columbus is second largest.

  • Isn't there some ambiguity in either title, though especially the latter? There is a Metropolitan Statistical Area defined for Columbus, Georgia (and the airport there is known as the Columbus Metropolitan Airport. older ≠ wiser 14:36, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose Changing the name would make sense if the other page existed. Currently, there is no such page, thus no reason to move this one. It clearly explains at the beginning that it is centered on Columbus, Ohio. Perhaps if the page is created it can be discussed, but due to the fact that the population of the city in Georgia is dwarfed by the city in Ohio, there still wouldn't be a compelling reason to move this page to a different name.--Analogue Kid 00:15, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My apologies, didn't realize the name had changed from Columbus Metropolitan Area. That name is preferred, although I would take Metro Columbus over Columbus Metropolitan Area (Ohio). The only other city with the "Metro X" format I've found is Metro Detroit, which works fine since that's generally what it is referred to locally in that area. Cincinnati and Columbus Metropolitan areas[edit]

From my own observation, it seems like there is no break in urbanization from Columbus to Cincinnati. I came here looking for data conserning the closeness between the two regions. Does anyone know anything about this? --67.172.13.176 (talk) 16:42, 25 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Central Ohio[edit]

Moving this page to Central Ohio is something that needs to be discussed first. As it stands now, Central Ohio does not have its own page (it's a redirect here), while some other regions of the state do. Is Central Ohio synonymous with the Columbus metro area enough that they are roughly the same? Right now, there is no clear organization with the regions and metro area pages and it seems "Central Ohio" is actually smaller than the Columbus CSA. Greater Cleveland, for instance, focuses on the Cleveland-Elyria MSA, while Northeast Ohio has a section on the Cleveland-Akron-Canton MSA. Cincinnati metro area, Dayton metropolitan area, and Toledo metropolitan area also cover both the MSA and CSA, while Northwest Ohio is about the region, with mentions of the Toledo MSA and CSA. --JonRidinger (talk) 00:54, 21 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Considering how many times this page has been moved, I would say that any proposed move should be the subject of discussion. I would base the decision on what the cited sources call the area. I didn't check them all, but they do seem to prefer some variation of "Columbus metro area" to "Central Ohio." Kendall-K1 (talk) 20:25, 28 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sections on Mass Transit and Cycling Need Updating[edit]

I probably should find citations, and I'm lazy, but Mass transit and Bicycle subsections need updating. I don't think there has been a Critical Mass in years, and Ohio Hub is dead for the most part it seems. These subsections paint an incorrect picture that Cbus is trying to be multimodal whereas it has become much more car-centric in recent years. one-no-one, noobermin (talk) 05:36, 4 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Columbus metropolitan area, Ohio → Central Ohio – While both are fine titles, Central Ohio is not only a much more concise name than the present (or if moved, previous) article title, but is frequently heard on regional radios and TV stations. See Google Trends data for searches of Columbus Ohio metropolitan area vs. Central Ohio, as well as coverage on the area by the press ([1], [2]) and Ohio's official tourism website.   • Oppose - I'm not convinced that "Central Ohio" describes exactly the same area or concept as the Columbus metropolitan area. The latter describes a commute-to-work zone centered around a city, while "Central Ohio" would be more of a geographic region. Note too that we have Northeast Ohio and Greater Cleveland as separate articles .Cheers  — Amakuru (talk) 21:53, 22 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose "Central Ohio" is an amorphous term that can include a much larger or smaller area than the Columbus MSA, depending on the context. Though the terms may be used interchangeably by some, the title of this article should be a term that is less dependent on context. Suggest removal of Cbusr mention[edit]

Cbusr hasn't been active or relevant for over a decade. It was a blip in time for a few years and is not noteworthy. It should be removed; it is not representative of the city of Columbus or its current growth.
