Thomas Murray[edit]

I have removed this:

"From the 1880s until 1980, St. Paul's had a choir of men and boys. Its last choirmaster and organist was Thomas Murray, who is now university organist and professor of organ at Yale University."

Although I have little doubt that it is correct,

  • it is completely unreferenced
  • it is misleading, as he was neither the last choirmaster not the last organist at the cathedral
  • it overemphasizes the role of one person in the long history of the church -- while mention of the architects is completely appropriate, an organist, even one as distinguished as Murray, is just one part of the liturgy and he was only here for five years of the nearly 200 year history of the cathedral.
