Image[edit]

I replaced the copywritten image with a self made GDFL image. Its not my favorite aerial, but its the best one I've taken of the Borgata and I want to help out by replacing the previous copywritten image.

Aren't we able to use the copyrighted image if, as the copyright notice claims, it falls within the realm of fair use and there is not a similar alternative? To me at least the purple glow of borgata as you approach it at night makes it unique and a beautiful sight. I'll be down in the fall this year so Il'l try and get some night time photos in as well. -DjD- 11:12, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I liked the previous image because of the night scene as well. I just noted that it had not claimed fair use so I put up one of my own which was released under GDFL. The tag on that image claims that is used "Where no free equivalent is available or could be created that would adequately give the same information". If someone would like to take a nice night photo under an open photo license or document fair use for the existing photo, that would be an acceptable option. Pilotbob 02:02, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. I'll shoot for taking one in September but perhaps someone will beat me to it. -DjD- 05:24, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Major Renovations?[edit]

The infobar says 'none' but I'd argue the enormous poker room / gaming floor addition that opened summer of 2006 + whatever large structure they're building next door would count. I'll try and find some sources for these changes. Blckdmnd99 12:25, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Trump bankruptcy[edit]

It is also said to be the greatest reason behind the Trump Hotel & Casino Resorts filing for chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2004.

I've removed this line, its been unsourced since February and doesn't seem appropriate for an article not specifically about Trump casinos or the AC Casino industry. J.reed 21:20, 22 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

2006 borgata gaming revenues 735M, F&B and other revenues (non-gaming) 274M, so saying that non-gaming profit margin is 600,000 a day would mean that 219M is profit and 55M is all expenses? can someone put a citation for that information or maybe change it;) numbers i got from casino control commission web page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.9.107.46 (talk) 15:30, 24 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image Borgata Twlight Removed[edit]

I noticed that the borgatatwlight.jpg was removed, however I have permission from Borgata to use this photo. If you could please give me more information about how to get this photo accepted and up, that would be great. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Eswiki (talkcontribs) 16:39, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ownership[edit]

Actually MGM Resorts International and Boyd Gaming corporation do not directly own The Borgata, it is owned solely through the Marina District Development Corp., a joint venture of MGMRI and Boyd which owns and operates the Borgata property & casinos. Further MGM Resorts International shares in MDDC are currently being held in trust due to the fact that the New Jersey Casino Control Commission found MGMRI unsuitable for licensing in New Jersey due to its relationship with Pansy Ho a casino operator in Hong Kong. Ms. Ho's father Stanley also the owners of casinos in Hong Kong and Macau allegedly has ties to the chinese mafia and that did not sit well with the members of the NJCCC so they basically told MGMRI to end their business relationship with Pansy Ho or get out of Atlantic City, MGMRI picked the latter and put their shares in trust. Merge tag August 2018[edit]

Very little reason to have a separate article for a second hotel tower at the same resort, especially one written like an advertisement. Multi-hotel-tower resorts are pretty common in the industry, and few have multiple articles. oknazevad (talk) 15:51, 17 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support, makes sense to me. There's not a whole lot to be said about the Water Club, so it can fit into this article just fine. Toohool (talk) 03:31, 18 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support for the reasons already given. Narky Blert (talk) 13:40, 12 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
