Images need to be updated[edit]

The current images on the page are putative reconstructions by Mr Remigius Jerry Kanagarajah, who arbitrarily started claiming to be the head of the dynasty in 2005. His claims have been repudiated by numerous genealogists (see the discussion below and the log of the discussion which successfully bought about the deletion of Mr Kanagarajah's article for more information). The images should be replaced by ones from published and credible sources, and not from the website of someone with an agenda. Clicking on the images sources them to "The Royal Family of Jaffna", hence they seem to be vicariously substantiating the claims of Mr Kanagarajah. The images are not necessarily historically accurate nor are they neutral. Replacing them with images from a published and credible source would be more fitting. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.101.147.214 (talk) 04:28, 9 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

GA pass[edit]

Congratulations, this is now a GA!

Some things you can do in the maintime:

  • Perhaps add some External links, and/or see also
  • Try and get more refs to pass WP:FAC (not necessary)

Thanks again! nedragehtnistercesruodeirubew 20:23, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Head of Family[edit]

The article states that their is no head to the dynasty - yet another article on Wikipedia shows that the Prince Remigius Jerry Kanagarajah of Jaffna is the head of this Royal family? Is there anyway of clearing this up - as I do not wish to put a pretender as the head - but the information should recognise a claimant to the crown. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kunchan (talkcontribs) 19:00, 21 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The claim has to be backed by WP:RS sources such as academic publications & mainstream sources. So I will rather leave that information in the See also section not as current head because this is WP:GA quality article that has FA potential. Taprobanus (talk) 19:40, 21 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed - if I can find such a source I will then update Kunchan (talk) 12:36, 23 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There have been no kings or princes of Jaffna since 1619 CE. It is absurd for someone to lay claim to a title that became extinct nearly 400 years ago. Furthermore, Sri Lanka is a Democratic Socialist Republic - and therefore does not recognise titles of nobility, let alone extinct ones from several centuries ago. In addition, Mr Kanagarajah has not been able to produce a complete family tree tracing father-son descent from any of the Arya Chakravarti kings, rendering his claim even more tenuous. An individual's decision to lay claim to a title that has ceased to exist for several centuries by constructing a website is just absurd. See the discussion page on the entry (which has been nominated for deletion) for more information.
Hope that helps. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.101.186.71 (talk) 11:57, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
