Central Asia High‑importance

	Asia portal Altai people is part of WikiProject Central Asia, a project to improve all Central Asia-related articles. This includes but is not limited to Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Tibet, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Xinjiang and Central Asian portions of Iran, Pakistan and Russia, region-specific topics, and anything else related to Central Asia. Unlabelled comment, 2006[edit]

The Altai are currently actually a minority in the Republic Altai and the 20% figure of 1950 was mainly due to the Russian influx. Also it is called a 'North Russian' republic, while it is in the south. Could somebody correct this errors? (my English is not so good, that's why) --Hardscarf 14:36, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Spelling mistake[edit]

There is a spelling mistake on the top of the text. --> oryots instead of oyrots

move to Altai people[edit]

We already have Altai Republic, so using Altai people seems somewhat logical. The Republic itself seems to us this designation on its website (you may also try google cache). "Altay people" and "Altai people" seem about equally popular on google, but "Altaians" [1] seems to be much more popular than "Altayans" [2].

Google Schlar hits:

Altai people: 57 [3]

Altay people: 3 [4]

Altaians: 342 [5]

Altayans: 19 [6]

Encoclopaedia Britannica uses "Altaic peoples" [7] (google cache).
