University name origin[edit]

Aber-: A Celtic prefix meaning "river mouth" or "confluence of waters" (Aber and Inver (placename elements)

Maurice Malpas[edit]

I have a hazy recollection that Maurice Malpas is an Abertay graduate. Am I correct? 82.18.174.37 01:42, 6 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It doesnt say on the Dundee United Website what establishment that Mo went to, but he did obtain an Honours Degree in Electrical Engineering. Also, it wouldnt have been Abertay he graduated from, it would have been Dundee Institute of Technology.

University ratings[edit]

(I'm posting this to all articles on UK universities as so far discussion hasn't really taken off on Wikipedia:WikiProject Universities.)

There needs to be a broader convention about which university rankings to include in articles. Currently it seems most pages are listing primarily those that show the institution at its best (or worst in a few cases). See Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Universities#University ratings. Bernard King[edit]

The link for Bernard King leads to a retired baseball player! Perhaps somebody should make a page for the principal. ;) I don't know where to start, myself, but someone who's more familiar with Abertay would. 91.153.199.246 17:42, 26 May 2007 (UTC) Bernard King isn't notable enough to justify his own article. Image:Abertay Uni logo.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. 2023 rankings[edit]

The source cited for the Guardian ranking does not appear to have Abertay at 48 as is indicated in the rankings box in the article - it would seem to be 85, so I have amended accordingly Dunarc (talk) 21:14, 24 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
