" and on the Laggan, a head-water of the River Forth." Aberfoyle is on the River Forth. I don't think this mention of the Laggan is correct. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.89.131.156 (talk) 07:56, 23 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I now see this mention of the Laggan comes from the 1911 encyclopedia. "Loch Ard, which is drained in turn by the Laggan". There is no mention of the Laggan on the Ordnance Survey map 365. Loch Ard drains via the River Forth. I don't think the Laggan description of this stretch of river is in modern use.

There is also mention here from 1882: http://www.visionofbritain.org.uk/gaztext_page.jsp?u_id=10170114

Metric[edit]

Note the UK uses meters for height on all modern official maps, feet are never expressed. Please ensure that the metric high is the primary source and comes before any conversion to feet. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 118.142.68.62 (talk) 01:37, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Tributaries of the River Forth[edit]

There are two streams that meet in Aberfoyle to become the River Forth. The name on some maps of that which flows from Loch Ard is the Avon Dhu. The other, which is longer, is the Duchray Water, and its beginnings are on Ben Lomond. DaveyHume (talk) 15:51, 8 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
