Nová Ves is a municipality and village in Mělník District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 1,100 inhabitants.

Administrative parts[edit]

The villages of Miřejovice, Nové Ouholice, Staré Ouholice and Vepřek are administrative parts of Nová Ves.

Geography[edit]

Nová Ves is located about 13 kilometres (8 mi) west of Mělník and 22 km (14 mi) north of Prague. It lies on the border between the Lower Ohře Table and Central Elbe Table. The highest point is at 270 m (890 ft) above sea level. The municipality is situated on the left bank of the Vltava River.

The first written mention of Nová Ves is from 1421.^[2]

Economy[edit]

Vepřek Solar Park, the largest photovoltaic power station by area and the second biggest by nameplate capacity, is located in Vepřek.

Transport[edit]

The D8 motorway from Prague to Ústí nad Labem passes through the municipality.

Sights[edit]

There are four cultural monuments in the municipality: Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, a belfry in Nová Ves, a belfry in Vepřek and a watermill in Vepřek.^[2] The main landmark is the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary. It is originally a Gothic church, first documented in 1352. In the 18th century, it was rebuilt and extended in the Baroque style.^[5]
