The 2024 NFL draft was the 89th annual meeting of National Football League (NFL) franchises to select newly eligible players. The draft was held around Campus Martius Park and Hart Plaza in Detroit, Michigan, on April 25–27, 2024.[1] The Chicago Bears held the first pick in the draft, traded from the Carolina Panthers, who had the worst record in the 2023 season. The received pick was part of the trade that gave Carolina the first overall pick in the 2023 draft. The Bears selected USC quarterback Caleb Williams with the first pick, which is the first time they selected first overall since 1947.
This draft saw five more quarterbacks selected in the first round - Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye, Michael Penix Jr., J. J. McCarthy, and Bo Nix - the most since 1983. No more quarterbacks were chosen until Spencer Rattler in the fifth round (150th overall). This was the longest span between quarterback selections in the common draft era, and this draft was the first since 1994 in which no quarterbacks were chosen on the second day.[2] 23 offensive players were chosen in the first round, with Laiatu Latu being the first defensive player selected at pick 15, both draft firsts.[3][4][2]
Host city
Detroit was chosen over Green Bay and Washington, D.C. as the host city on March 28, 2022.[5]

2020 Resolution JC-2A picks
Since the 2021 draft, the league, under 2020 Resolution JC-2A passed in November 2020, rewards teams for developing minority candidates for head coach and/or general manager positions.[11] The resolution rewards teams whose minority candidates are hired away for one of those positions by awarding draft picks. These draft picks are at the end of the third round, after standard compensatory picks; if multiple teams qualify, they are awarded by draft order in the first round. These picks are in addition to, and have no impact on, the standard 32 compensatory picks.[12] Two picks were awarded for the 2024 draft pursuant to the resolution.
- ^ Los Angeles received a third-round selection and a 2025 third-round selection after Atlanta hired former Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris as head coach.[7]
- ^ San Francisco received a third-round selection and a 2023 third-round selection after Tennessee hired former 49ers director of player personnel Ran Carthon as general manager.[8]
