Summary

Description
English: The Green Looking east along The Green to the New Aberdeen Market, an indoor market hall which replaced the Victorian one. The Green was an old Aberdeen market place and is still used on Fridays for selling country produce. The Green here was the old road into Aberdeen from the south-west, from The Hardgate. The old pub on the right, "The Old King's Highway", takes its name from this route. The pub also marks the northern limit of the medieval Carmelite Friary whose grounds were bounded by the modern The Green, Carmelite Street, Martin's Lane and Rennie's Wynd.
