1. Probably the 1920's rather than the 1930s. The Wikipedia article on Jack Hobbs features this picture and has the date as 1924-1925. Hobbs last played in a test in Australia during the 1928-29 English tour. He didn't actually retire from test cricket until the 1930s but he accompanied the English cricket tours to Australia in 1932-33 and 1936-37?, as a journalist/interested bystander. Eeven then, he was roped into playing in a couple of minor charity/exhibition games ; Reference:; Information supplied by Robert Thomson, August 2012; 2.
