L'entrée de la synagogue les photographies sont interdites à l'intérieur

Les premiers juifs seraient arrivés à Cochin après le sac de Jérusalem par les Romains (Titus) en 70. Selon les informations affichées dans un local de la synagogue, c'est parce qu'il existait des relations commerciales entre la Judée et le Kerala qu'un groupe de juifs a été accueilli à Cochin par le raja de l'époque. Par la suite, ils ont été rejoints par d'autres communautés.
