DescriptionDUBLIN FRUIT AND VEGETABLE MARKET (MARY'S LANE - ST MICHAN'S STREET DUBLIN)-158439.jpg
English: In August 2019 the Dublin Fruit And Vegetable Market near where I live closed in order to be refurbished. When I was young my father would bring here about once a week very early in the morning as he purchased in bulk for the extended family.
This market was first opened in 1892, to provide a centre for sellers of fruit and vegetables in Dublin. The granite work around the doorways is by Charles Harrison and its decorative work includes representations of the products sold.
Dublin City Council have advertised for expressions of interest for the conversion of the Victorian redbrick building into a retail space.
