Object history
Deutsch: Das Wappen und die Flagge der 1971 aus Ober- und Untermünstertal gebildeten Gemeinde wurden am 3. Juli 1972 vom Innenministerium verliehen. Das Wappen bringt die Geschichte des Münstertals zum Ausdruck: Die Mitra steht für das Kloster St. Trudpert, dessen Grundherrschaft das Münstertal bis 1806 unterstand. Die Obervogtei über das Kloster übten die Habsburger aus, worauf der österreichische Bindenschild hinweist. Das Münstertal leitet seinen Namen von dem Städtchen Münster her, das dank dem Silberbergbau und der Münzstätte im Mittelalter blühte, seit dem 16. Jahrhundert aber wieder zum Weiler herabsank. Schlägel und Eisen erinnern an die Bedeutung des Bergbaus im Gemeindegebiet bis ins 18. Jahrhundert hinein.
