Sulaiman is an English transliteration of the Arabic name سليمان that means "peaceful" and corresponds to the Jewish name Solomon (Hebrew: שְׁלֹמֹה‎, Shlomoh) and the English Solomon (/ˈsɒləmən/) . Solomon was the scriptural figure who was king of what was then the United Kingdom of Israel (c. 970–931 BCE) and is revered as a major prophet by Muslims.
