Long Pocket is a rural locality in the Shire of Hinchinbrook, Queensland, Australia.[2] In the 2016 census, Long Pocket had a population of 198 people.[1]

History[edit]

Long Pocket State School opened on 26 July 1915 and closed on 14 February 1994.[3][4] It was at 2062 Abergowrie Road (18°32′31″S 146°01′10″E / 18.5419°S 146.0194°E / -18.5419; 146.0194 (Long Pocket State School (former))), now in neighbouring Lannercost.[5][6]

In the 2016 census, Long Pocket had a population of 198 people.[1]

Education[edit]

There are no schools in Long Pocket. The nearest primary school is Trebonne State School in neighbouring Trebonne to the south-east. The nearest secondary school is Ingham State High School in Ingham to the south-east.[7]

Community groups[edit]

The Abergowrie-Long Pocket branch of the Queensland Country Women's Association meets at 2346 Abergowrie Road (18°31′17″S 146°00′12″E / 18.5215°S 146.0033°E / -18.5215; 146.0033 (Abergowrie-Long Pocket CWA)).[8]
